SINGLE VISION LENSES
ANTI-REFLECTIVE LENSES
Anti-reflective lens coatings reduce reflections and bounce back glare and dazzle from overhead lighting, computer screens and oncoming headlights. This increases your vision performance dramatically.
These anti-reflective coatings can be combined with anti-static, anti-smudge and scratch-resistant water repellent layers.
HI-INDEX (THINNER LENSES)
High-index lenses are made from materials that allow glasses lenses to be made ultra-thin and ultra-lightweight by bending light more efficiently.
VARIFOCAL LENSES
Varifocals are multifocal lenses which are required due to natural changes in the focusing mechanism of your eyes for reading. This condition is called Presbyopia and usually happens in the forties. They are designed to give you the best possible vision at all distances.
Varifocals have three main focal areas, which are smoothly blended (without a line) into one for natural vision at every distance. Not all varifocals are the same. There are differences in design and quality as there are with other products.
LIFESTYLE (COMPUTER LENSES)
These lenses are designed to combat vision fatigue, specifically for people whose visual tasks are predominantly based at near and/or intermediate zone for prolonged periods of time.
There are different versions based on different vision needs for desktop work. Your Optometrist will advise you with regard to your work practice and your prescription.

POLARISING SUN LENSES
- Greater Comfort and Safety outdoors
- Virtually Eliminates glare
- Enhanced colour perception
- Improved Contrast
- 100% UVA/UVB protection
Available in two colours, brown and grey, in single vision or varifocal, with optional coatings on the back surface to eliminate back and side reflections.
FOR DRIVING:
Polarising lenses offer increased safety. They eliminate the glare produced by reflections on wet surfaces, the dashboard and other cars.
FOR PROTECTION:
For light sensitive eyes, particularly for older people and those who have had ocular surgery (refractive by laser or cataract), for sports such as golfing, sailing and fishing, for winter sports such as skiing where your eyes constant stress from sunlight reflected by flat-surfaces (water, snow and ice). Childrens eyes are especially vulnerable to the suns UV radiation as the eyes crystalline lens does not act as a protective filter until age 13.
PHOTOCHROMATIC LENSES (TRANSITIONS)
Photochromatic (Transitions) lenses are clear indoors and automatically darken outdoors, to adjust to changing light. They reduce the effects of glare and eye fatigue. They block harmful UVA/UVB rays.
UV radiation is a major issue. In the past 10 years the Earth has lost 12% of its Ozone layer.
For every percent lost, scientists register a consequential increase in cancer (4%) and cataracts (0.8%). There is increasing evidence of the cumulative effect of blue light damaging the retina and that is a contributor to age related macular degeneration (AMD) and other ocular disease.
BIFOCAL LENSES
On lenses, these two prescriptions have a distinct line between them; there is no gradual distinction between the two. Wearers have to look up and down to switch between the prescriptions they need, with long distance prescription at the top and near distance at the bottom.
